Are you passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning, manage their emotions and build positive futures?

M&M Supply is recruiting SEMH Behaviour Mentors in Bristol to support pupils in specialist schools, social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) settings and behaviour-focused education provisions.

This is an opportunity for someone who can build positive relationships, provide consistent support and help young people engage with education, even when they face challenges with behaviour, emotional regulation or school attendance.

We welcome applications from candidates with relevant experience in education, youth work, residential care, mentoring, sports coaching or supporting young people with additional needs.

What will you be doing?

As an SEMH Behaviour Mentor, you may be responsible for:

  • Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils who experience social, emotional and mental health challenges.
  • Supporting pupils to manage emotions, develop resilience and improve engagement with learning.
  • Promoting positive behaviour through clear boundaries, consistency and encouragement.
  • Helping pupils develop communication, social and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Supporting pupils who may have experienced barriers to mainstream education.
  • Working alongside teachers, SEN staff and pastoral teams to support individual needs.
  • Helping create a safe, structured and inclusive learning environment.
  • Following safeguarding procedures and school policies at all times.

What experience and skills do you need?

We are looking for people who are patient, resilient, approachable and committed to helping young people succeed.

Relevant experience may include:

  • SEMH, SEN or behaviour-support settings.
  • Youth work, mentoring or pastoral support.
  • Residential childcare or support work with young people.
  • Sports coaching or other roles involving positive behaviour, boundaries and relationship-building.
  • Supporting young people with additional learning, emotional or behavioural needs.

You should have strong communication skills, be able to remain calm under pressure and understand the importance of consistency, professional boundaries and safeguarding.

Previous school-based experience is not needed but transferable experience may also be suitable, depending on the requirements of the placement.

What does M&M Supply offer?

  • £110 – £130 per day, depending on the placement and applicable terms.
  • Opportunities in Bristol and surrounding areas.
  • Experience in specialist education and behaviour-focused settings.
  • A recruitment team that will discuss your experience, availability and suitable opportunities.
  • Opportunities to build your career in SEN, SEMH and alternative provision.
