Senior Account Executive

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Account Executive to join McCarter Accounting Advisory Sdn Bhd in Melaka on a fulltime basis. This is a strategic position within our Financial Accounting & Reporting division, where you will play a pivotal role in managing client relationships and delivering high-quality accounting services. You will be responsible for overseeing complex financial accounting matters, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and providing expert guidance to clients whilst maintaining the highest standards of professional excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and maintain relationships with assigned client portfolios, serving as the primary point of contact for financial accounting and reporting matters
• Prepare, review and ensure accuracy of financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements
• Oversee the completion of financial accounting tasks, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial close procedures
• Provide expert advice to clients on accounting treatments, tax implications and financial reporting issues
• Conduct detailed reviews of client accounting records and identify areas for improvement or potential compliance issues
• Supervise and mentor junior staff members, ensuring quality output and professional development
• Liaise with clients to clarify accounting matters, gather necessary documentation and communicate findings and recommendations
• Prepare management reports and analyses to support client decision-making
• Stay current with changes in accounting standards, regulations and best practices within the industry
• Contribute to the development and refinement of accounting policies and procedures within the firm

What we're looking for

• Professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, CA, CPA or equivalent recognised certification
• Minimum 3 years of post-qualification experience in financial accounting and reporting
• Strong technical knowledge of Malaysian accounting standards, International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and local tax regulations
• Proven ability to manage multiple client accounts simultaneously whilst maintaining attention to detail and meeting deadlines
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify complex accounting issues and provide practical solutions
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex accounting concepts to non-technical stakeholders
• Demonstrated leadership capability with experience in supervising and developing junior team members
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office applications
• High level of integrity, discretion and commitment to professional ethics
• Experience with clients in various industries is advantageous
