Senior Accountant

A Senior Accountant manages complex accounting operations, oversees financial record-keeping, ensures regulatory compliance, and guides junior accounting staff. They analyze financial data, maintain general ledgers, and lead month-end or year-end close processes.

Core Responsibilities

• Financial Reporting: Prepare balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and monthly or annual financial reports.
• General Ledger & Reconciliations: Maintain general ledger accounts and conduct monthly and quarterly bank and account reconciliations.
• Closing Processes: Lead the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close procedures.
• Auditing & Compliance: Ensure financial procedures align with GAAP or IFRS standards, and prepare documentation for internal and external audits.
• Budgeting & Analysis: Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to support business decisions.
• Team Leadership: Supervise, mentor, and review work performed by staff accountants, bookkeepers, and junior analysts.

Key Requirements & Skills

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Certification: Professional certification such as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) is often preferred.
• Experience: 3 to 5 years of hands-on accounting and general ledger experience.
• Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in MS Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs) and enterprise accounting software like QuickBooks, FreshBooks, or NetSuite.
