Senior Accountant

Responsibilities

• Manage complex general ledger accounting activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end closing processes.
• Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions, ensuring timely invoice processing, payment approvals, and collections.
• Utilize financial software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Workday, PeopleSoft, or similar systems to maintain accurate financial records and facilitate automation of routine tasks.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and internal controls, including SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) requirements.
• Conduct detailed Excel data analysis using formulas like VLOOKUP and advanced spreadsheet techniques to support financial reporting and audit preparation.
• Assist with payroll management using systems such as ADP, UltiPro, Kronos, or Ceridian while maintaining confidentiality of sensitive employee information.
• Support external audits by preparing documentation, performing account reconciliations, and verifying data accuracy in various accounting systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including HRIS (Human Resources Information System) and benefits administration to ensure accurate financial reporting related to employee benefits and non-profit accounting where applicable.
• Maintain meticulous records of all financial transactions while adhering to strict confidentiality standards.
• Participate in process improvements such as accounts payable automation and implementation of new financial software solutions.

Experience

• Proven accounting experience with a minimum of five years in corporate or public accounting environments.
• Strong understanding of GAAP standards combined with practical experience in technical accounting practices.
• Hands-on experience with a variety of financial software including QuickBooks, Sage, Workday, PeopleSoft, Ceridian, ADP, Kronos, UltiPro or similar platforms.
• Demonstrated proficiency in Excel data analysis techniques such as formulas (VLOOKUP), pivot tables, and complex spreadsheets for reporting purposes.
• Familiarity with SOX compliance procedures and internal control frameworks.
• Experience managing accounts payable/receivable processes with an emphasis on automation and efficiency improvements.
• Knowledge of payroll management systems like ADP or UltiPro along with benefits administration processes.
• Ability to perform detailed account reconciliation and journal entries accurately under tight deadlines.
• Strong analytical skills combined with excellent attention to detail in handling confidential information.
