Senior Accountant

About the role

Bullstate Sdn Bhd is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our Finance team in Tanjung Kidurong, Sarawak. This is a full-time position that plays a critical role in maintaining the financial integrity and reporting accuracy of our organisation. As Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for overseeing financial accounting operations, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and providing strategic financial insights to support business decision-making. This position is essential to our finance function and directly contributes to the company's financial health and stakeholder confidence.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements
• Manage the general ledger, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded and properly classified
• Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including reconciliation and aging analysis
• Conduct reconciliations of balance sheet accounts and investigate variances
• Support the audit process by preparing schedules and documentation for external auditors
• Implement and maintain effective internal controls and accounting procedures
• Provide financial analysis and reporting to management to support strategic planning and decision-making
• Mentor and supervise junior accounting staff, fostering a culture of accuracy and professional development
• Liaise with external stakeholders, including auditors, tax authorities and regulatory bodies
• Ensure compliance with Malaysian accounting standards and regulatory obligations

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
• Professional qualification such as ACCA, CPA Malaysia or equivalent accounting credential
• Minimum 5-7 years of experience in financial accounting and reporting roles
• Strong knowledge of Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (MFRS) and accounting best practices
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel, including advanced spreadsheet functions
• Demonstrated experience with month-end and year-end closing procedures
• Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under tight deadlines
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across departments
• Experience in supervising and developing accounting team members
• Knowledge of internal controls and audit processes
