What they need

Senior Accountant

PUBLIC ACCOUNTING | 3 OR MORE YEARS OF EXPERIENCE | SOUTHEASTERN WISCONSIN

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant with three or more years of professional accounting experience to join our public accounting team and take an active role in tax, client accounting, financial reporting, and client service engagements. This position is ideal for an accounting professional who is ready to assume greater engagement responsibility, develop client relationships, and provide guidance to less-experienced team members.

The Senior Accountant will work closely with managers and partners while supervising assigned engagement work and developing staff accountants. Advancement to this level is based on experience and demonstrated readiness to review work, guide others, exercise professional judgment, and assume greater engagement responsibility; it is not based on years of service alone.

Key Responsibilities

· Tax Preparation and Review - Prepare more complex individual, corporate, partnership, fiduciary, nonprofit, and other tax returns and review routine returns and supporting workpapers prepared by staff accountants.

· Engagement Supervision - Coordinate and supervise assigned engagement work, monitor progress and deadlines, and provide guidance to staff accountants.

· Financial Reporting and Client Accounting - Prepare and review financial statements, workpapers, complex account analyses, reconciliations, adjusting entries, and supporting schedules.

· Technical Accounting and Tax - Develop a strong command of applicable accounting, tax, and professional standards, research technical issues as necessary, and apply assurance standards when assigned to those engagements.

· Client Relationships - Develop strong client relationships, communicate directly with clients regarding engagement matters, and work with managers and partners to identify and resolve issues.

· Staff Development - Assign and explain work, mentor and train staff accountants, review their work, and provide constructive feedback and on-the-job guidance.

· Engagement Quality - Apply professional judgment, attention to detail, and appropriate professional skepticism to assigned engagements.

· Process Improvement - Identify opportunities to improve engagement efficiency, workflow, documentation, and client service.

· Cross-Office Collaboration - Work collaboratively with partners, managers, and staff across office locations based on client and firm needs.

Qualifications

· Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related business field.

· Three or more years of public accounting or comparable professional accounting experience, together with demonstrated readiness for engagement and staff supervision responsibilities.

· CPA designation, successful completion of the CPA exam, or progress toward CPA licensure preferred.

· Experience preparing tax returns, performing client accounting or bookkeeping services, and/or preparing financial statements. Prior audit or assurance experience is beneficial but is not required.

· Strong understanding of accounting principles and professional standards appropriate to level of experience.

· Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

· Ability to manage multiple engagements, responsibilities, and deadlines.

· Ability to supervise and provide guidance to less-experienced staff.

· Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to develop positive client relationships.

· High level of accuracy, confidentiality, integrity, and professional judgment.

Work Environment and Schedule

· Position may involve work from our Paddock Lake, Kenosha, and Racine offices based on client assignments and firm needs.

· Schedule flexibility may be required during tax season and other periods of increased client deadlines.

· Team-oriented environment with opportunities for continued technical development, leadership experience, increased client responsibility, and advancement.

Compensation and Benefits

· Competitive salary commensurate with experience.

· Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance.

· Retirement plan with employer contribution.

· Paid time off and paid holidays.

· Continuing professional education and professional development support.

· Opportunities for advancement based on technical development, leadership, client service, and increased engagement responsibility.
