The Opportunity

Join a well-established, multi-practice commercial law firm with offices across the Eastern Seaboard. Reporting directly to the CFO, this high-visibility role supports multi-office, multi-state accounting operations and turns financial data into actionable insight for leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements across multiple offices and legal entities.
• Support month-end and year-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
• Manage general ledger activity and reconcile operating and trust accounts, unapplied cash, WIP, payroll, intercompany activity, and liabilities.
• Produce billing, collections, profitability, KPI, cash, and budget-to-actual reports for leadership.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, financial modeling, and scenario analysis.
• Coordinate audits and tax preparation, including documentation, testing, and issue resolution.
• Manage applicable multi-state Sales and Use Tax and Tangible Personal Property Tax filings in FL, NY, NJ, and PA.
• Evaluate controls, improve processes, and mentor junior accounting staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
• At least five years of accounting or financial analysis experience.
• Strong general ledger, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and reconciliation experience.
• Knowledge of legal billing and trust accounting; law firm or professional services experience is strongly preferred.
• Legal accounting or enterprise financial management software experience is an advantage.
• Advanced Excel skills, including complex formulas, financial modeling, and data analysis.
• Ability to work independently, maintain confidentiality, and manage competing deadlines.
