Senior Accountant

Senior accountants are responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of an organizations financial data. They oversee daily accounting operations, maintain the general ledger, and provide the foundational analysis used by executive leadership for strategic decisions.Financial Oversight & Reporting

• Financial Statement Preparation: Producing accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheets and income statements.
• General Ledger Management: Maintaining the general ledger, creating and approving complex journal entries, and executing month-end and year-end close processes.
• Account Reconciliation: Reconciling bank statements, intercompany accounts, and high-volume balance sheet line items to identify and resolve discrepancies.

Compliance & Auditing

• Audit Facilitation: Preparing necessary schedules, documentation, and workpapers for internal and external auditors to ensure smooth annual audits.
• Tax Management: Assisting with or overseeing corporate tax filings, sales tax compliance, and payroll tax reporting.

Analysis & Strategy

• Variance Analysis: Analysing actual financial results against budgeted projections and prior periods to explain key drivers and variances.
• Cost Control & Budgeting: Assisting in the formulation of annual budgets and forecasts while identifying opportunities for cost reduction.
• Internal Controls: Designing, implementing, and enforcing robust internal accounting controls to safeguard company assets and prevent fraud.

Leadership & Collaboration

• Team Supervision: Reviewing the work of junior accountants and accounting clerks, providing constructive feedback and mentorship.
• Process Automation: Leading initiatives to streamline workflows, upgrade accounting software, or automate repetitive manual tasks.
• Cross-Departmental Advisory: Collaborating with operational managers to explain financial impacts and guide department-specific spending decisions.
