Senior Accountant

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. In this pivotal role, you will leverage your extensive accounting expertise to ensure the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of our financial records. You will oversee complex accounting functions, support financial reporting processes, and contribute to the continuous improvement of accounting systems and procedures. Duties

• Prepare, review, and analyze journal entries, general ledger reconciliations, and month-end closing activities to ensure accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
• Manage accounts payable processes, including invoice processing, accounts payable automation, and vendor payments using financial software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or Workday.
• Oversee accounts receivable functions, including invoicing, collections, and receivable reconciliation to optimize cash flow.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls such as SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) requirements and maintain thorough documentation for audit readiness.
• Support payroll management activities utilizing systems like ADP, UltiPro, Kronos or Ceridian; handle benefits administration and related HRIS (Human Resources Information System) data entry.
• Conduct detailed analysis of financial data using Excel data analysis techniques, including formulas like VLOOKUP and advanced spreadsheet functions for reporting purposes.
• Assist with external audits by preparing schedules, account reconciliations, and supporting documentation related to governmental accounting standards or non-profit accounting if applicable.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in accounting or finance roles with a strong understanding of double entry bookkeeping and financial concepts.
• Demonstrated proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, PeopleSoft, or similar enterprise systems; experience with financial software integration is a plus.
• Knowledge of GAAP standards and financial compliance regulations; familiarity with SOX controls is highly desirable.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to perform Excel data analysis using formulas like VLOOKUP and complex spreadsheets for reporting and reconciliation tasks.
• Experience in accounts payable/receivable management, journal entries, account reconciliation, and general ledger accounting.
• Excellent attention to detail combined with strong organizational skills; ability to handle confidential information discreetly.
• Effective communication skills to collaborate across departments including human resources for payroll or benefits-related activities.
• Prior experience in public accounting or governmental accounting is advantageous but not mandatory.

Pay: $92,605.38 - $111,524.75 per year
