Senior Accountant – Manufacturing

Location: Carrollton, Kentucky | On-Site

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join the finance team of an established manufacturing operation in Carrollton, KY. This position will play a key role in plant accounting, financial reporting, cost and inventory accounting, month-end close, and financial analysis.

The Senior Accountant will work closely with plant operations, manufacturing, supply chain, and finance leadership to ensure accurate financial reporting while providing meaningful insight into plant performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close , including journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Prepare and review financial statements, management reports, and supporting schedules.
• Analyze manufacturing costs, inventory activity, production variances, and plant operating results .
• Provide reliable cost reporting and balance sheet analysis to ensure financial results accurately reflect plant performance.
• Maintain fixed asset accounting, depreciation schedules, and capital project tracking.
• Support physical inventory counts and ensure accurate inventory valuation and reporting.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts and research and resolve discrepancies.
• Partner with plant and operations management to analyze financial performance and identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
• Assist with annual budgets, forecasts, and ongoing financial analysis.
• Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, IFRS, internal controls, company accounting policies, and applicable Sarbanes-Oxley requirements .
• Manage property, sales, and use tax compliance and assist with periodic state audits.
• Support external financial audits, tax filings, and regulatory reporting.
• Help ensure plant personnel follow established accounting policies and procedures.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, reporting, and operating efficiencies.
• Assist with ERP enhancements and financial systems improvements .
• Provide plant and business leadership with clear financial information and insight to support business decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field .
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience , preferably within a manufacturing environment.
• Experience in complex manufacturing environments is particularly valuable.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing accounting, inventory accounting, and cost accounting .
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting requirements .
• Experience working with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar platforms .
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel .
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to investigate financial variances and identify underlying business drivers.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to partner effectively with both finance and non-finance teams.
