Senior Accountant

Job Title: Senior Accountant Job Summary We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our Finance Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and reviewing accounting activities, ensuring accurate financial records, supporting monthly and year-end closing, and providing reliable financial information to management.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and review day-to-day accounting transactions and ensure accurate recording in the accounting system.
• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, provisions, and adjustments.
• Handle monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing activities.
• Prepare and review financial reports and management reports.
• Perform bank, customer, supplier, and general ledger reconciliations.
• Monitor accounts receivable and accounts payable balances and follow up on outstanding items.
• Review project-related costs, expenses, revenues, and supporting documentation.
• Monitor project accounting and ensure proper allocation of costs to the relevant projects.
• Assist in monitoring project profitability, cost variances, and financial performance.
• Support WIP (Work in Progress) accounting and project cost reporting.
• Review subcontractor, supplier, and project-related invoices and ensure proper accounting treatment.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis when required.
• Ensure compliance with company accounting policies and applicable IFRS requirements.
• Coordinate with other departments regarding financial and accounting matters.
• Support external auditors during audit processes and provide required schedules and supporting documents.
• Perform other accounting and financial duties as assigned by the Chief Accountant/ Finance Manager.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum 5–7 years of relevant accounting experience.
• Mandatory: Previous experience in a construction/contracting company. Candidates without contracting/construction industry experience will not be considered.
• Bilingual: Excellent Arabic and English communication skills, both written and spoken, are mandatory.
• Strong knowledge of project accounting, project costing, WIP, and project profitability.
• Good understanding of accounting principles and IFRS.
• Strong experience in General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, reconciliations, and month-end closing.
• Experience with ERP/accounting systems.
• Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel and financial reporting.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with multiple projects simultaneously.
• Experience in construction, civil works, infrastructure, MEP, maintenance, landscaping, or other contracting activities.
• Experience with project costing, subcontractors, WIP, retention, advance payments, and project profitability.
• Professional accounting certification or progress toward a professional qualification is an advantage.
