Senior Accountant

About the role

Reporting directly to the CFO, this is a key role responsible for supporting the Billing & Reporting function, while leading and providing support to a small team across Payroll, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable. This is an excellent opportunity for an accountant who enjoys working across both the technical and commercial sides of finance, has strong attention to detail and wants to play an important role in a growing business.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and support the Payroll, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions.
• Support the Billing & Reporting team, including billing assurance, reconciliations and investigation of discrepancies.
• Prepare and improve management reports, dashboards and financial analysis.
• Assist with month-end accounting, reconciliations and management accounts.
• Analyse financial and operational data to identify trends, variances and opportunities for improvement.
• Strengthen financial controls and help minimise billing errors and revenue leakage.
• Identify and implement process improvements and efficiencies across the Finance function.
• Provide financial and commercial support to the CFO and wider business.
• Provide coverage to key accounting roles in the business where required.

About you

• Minimum 5 years experience in accounting or a senior finance role.
• A relevant accounting, finance or commerce qualification.
• Experience across AP, AR and Payroll.
• Experience leading or supervising a small team.
• Strong Excel and data analysis skills.
• Experience with Power BI, Power Query or similar tools will be highly regarded.
• Strong reconciliation, reporting and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with both Finance and operational teams.
• A proactive approach to improving processes and systems.
• Experience in waste, transport, logistics, utilities or another operationally intensive industry will be highly regarded.
