Senior Accountant

Role Description The Certified Public Accountant will work on-site full time in Fredericksburg, VA, providing accounting, tax, and advisory services to a portfolio of small and mid-size business clients. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing and reviewing financial statements, managing general ledger entries, reconciling accounts, and ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and tax regulations. The role involves preparing business and individual tax returns, assisting with delinquent tax filings, supporting IRS and state tax negotiations, and providing audit support and documentation. The CPA will analyze cash flow, assist with business planning and loan package preparation, and advise clients on financial strategies to improve profitability and stability. Collaboration with internal team members and direct communication with clients are essential, with an emphasis on accurate reporting, timely deliverables, and proactive guidance.

Qualifications

• Strong foundational accounting skills, including financial statement preparation, general ledger management, and account reconciliation.
• Demonstrated tax expertise, including business and individual tax preparation, compliance, and experience with IRS and state tax matters.
• Experience in advisory and consulting activities, such as cash flow analysis, business planning, and support for loan package preparation.
• Proficiency with accounting and tax software, and solid skills in spreadsheets and other office productivity tools.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities, with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex financial information clearly to clients.
• Current CPA license in good standing; bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Prior public accounting or small to mid-size business client experience preferred; familiarity with audits and litigation support is a plus.
• Ability to work on-site in Fredericksburg, VA, manage multiple client engagements, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
