Senior Accountant / Controller

Location: Stuart, Florida (100% On-Site)

We’re looking for a hands-on Senior Accountant / Controller to take ownership of the accounting function for a growing, multi-divisional business in Stuart, Florida.

This is a key position working directly with ownership and the COO, overseeing the full accounting cycle and providing the financial insight needed to support business decisions. The business operates across project management, manufacturing, service and sales, so experience managing complex accounting requirements across multiple areas is important.

ERP experience is essential , with Acumatica highly preferred. We’re looking for someone who can confidently navigate an ERP system, maintain accurate financial data and manage the accounting function independently. Payroll experience is also a key requirement.

Responsibilities

• Full-cycle accounting: Own day-to-day accounting operations and prepare accurate monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements through to audit-ready reporting.
• Project accounting: Manage job costing and project-related financials, ensuring costs and profitability are accurately tracked.
• Multi-divisional accounting: Oversee accounting across manufacturing, service and sales operations, including inventory, cost of goods sold, billing and revenue recognition.
• Payroll & benefits administration: Manage payroll for approximately 50 employees.
• Tax & compliance: Oversee state sales tax reporting, corporate compliance filings and relevant state and federal requirements. Experience with Avalara would be beneficial.
• Financial analysis: Support ownership with variance analysis, cash flow projections and financial insights to inform business decisions.
• ERP & process improvement: Maintain data integrity and identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and reporting through effective use of the company's ERP system.
• External relationships: Work alongside the company's external auditor and CPA consultant to ensure accurate reporting and compliance.

Experience

• 5–7+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally at Senior Accountant, Accounting Manager or Controller level.
• Strong, hands-on experience with an ERP system. Acumatica experience is highly preferred, but experience with comparable ERP platforms will be considered.
• Proven experience managing payroll, including payroll processing and associated compliance requirements.
• Solid full-cycle accounting knowledge, including financial statement preparation and audit readiness.
• Experience with project accounting and job costing, ideally alongside exposure to manufacturing, inventory, service or sales operations.
• Knowledge of sales tax reporting, with Avalara experience a plus.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables, lookups and advanced formulas.
• The ability to work autonomously, maintain exceptional attention to detail and communicate effectively with business owners and external financial professionals.
