Senior Accountant

Key responsibilities

• Prepare financial statements and income tax returns for individuals, companies, trusts, partnerships and SMSFs
• Manage a portfolio of clients as their primary point of contact, including small to medium businesses across a range of industries
• Prepare and lodge BAS, IAS, FBT returns and payroll tax obligations
• Provide tax planning, including CGT, Division 7A, small business concessions and trust distribution matters
• Liaise with the ATO and Revenue NSW on client matters, including reviews and objections
• Review work prepared by junior accountants and provide technical guidance and mentoring
• Maintain accurate workflow and billing records, and contribute to meeting practice deadlines

About you

Essential

• CA or CPA qualified, or substantially progressed toward completion
• Minimum 4–5 years in Australian public practice
• Strong working knowledge of Australian tax law across income tax, GST, FBT and superannuation
• Experience preparing financial statements and returns for a range of entity types
• Confident dealing directly with clients and comfortable explaining technical matters in plain language
• High attention to detail and the ability to manage competing deadlines
• Australian working rights

Desirable

• Experience with Xero or similar practice software
• Exposure to SMSF – Supermate Software
• Experience supervising or reviewing the work of junior staff
