Senior Accountant

SETUP : 5 days/week in office, in North York, ON

START DATE : ASAP

CONTRACT : 12 months

Responsibilities:

• Prepares year-to-date financial reports for regional governments.
• Prepares quarterly reports, journal entries, and reconciliations.
• Prepares annual grant utilization reports.
• Assists with the preparation and review of monthly financial statements.
• Conducts variance analysis of the monthly general ledger and financial statements.
• Performs revenue recognition and funds analysis and completes government documents.
• Maintains year-end audit schedules.
• Assists Managers with budget submissions to regional governments.
• Prepares annual returns, including the Charity Information Return.
• Completes GST returns semi-annually.
• Prepares and posts payroll journal entries.

Skills and Experience Required

• 5+ years of experience in full cycle accounting
• Accounting designation (or near completion of one)
• NPO industry experience is an asset (not a must have)
• Strong MS Excel skills.
