Position Overview

Our client is seeking a hands-on Interim Sr. Accountant to provide leave coverage for a key accounting leader within one of the company's operating business units. This engagement is expected to begin in October and continue through late January or early February, covering year-end close and critical accounting activities during the leave.

The ideal candidate is not a people manager but rather a strong accounting professional who is comfortable rolling up their sleeves, working alongside the existing accounting team, and executing day-to-day accounting responsibilities. This individual will partner closely with the Assistant Controller and support the accounting function through a busy year-end period.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the accounting and financial reporting activities for a services-based business unit using Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains.
• Perform account reconciliations and ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial records.
• Conduct variance analysis and investigate significant account fluctuations.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
• Generate and analyze financial reports utilizing DataRails and other reporting tools.
• Support accounting activities related to construction and project-based revenue recognition, including percentage-of-completion accounting.
• Collaborate closely with the Assistant Controller to ensure continuity of accounting operations during the leave period.
• Assist with ad hoc accounting projects and operational accounting needs as they arise.
• Maintain compliance with company accounting policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience at the Senior Accountant or Accounting Manager level.
• Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
• Experience performing detailed variance analysis and account review.
• Prior experience supporting construction, project-based, or percentage-of-completion accounting environments preferred.
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains) strongly preferred.
• Experience using DataRails or similar financial reporting and planning tools is a plus.
