Senior Accounting Manager

Our medical device client in Carlsbad is growing their finance team! We are seeking a Senior Accounting Manager / Cost Accountant, who will play a crucial role in managing and analyzing the financial aspects of our client's manufacturing operations. This position is responsible for ensuring accurate product costing, inventory valuation, and financial reporting. The role is essential in providing insights into cost efficiencies, pricing strategies, and financial performance to support the organization's growth and profitability.

Please note, this role is fully onsite in Carlsbad, San Diego.

Qualifications of the Senior Accounting Manager / Cost Accountant:

• 3+ years in a cost accountant focused role
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance required, CPA preferred
• Knowledge of cost accounting modules within ERP systems, ideally Microsoft AX
• Manufacturing company experience required
• Strong understanding of standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory management
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally with a strong sense of personal responsibility
• Knowledge of the full suite of general ledger accounts that support the financial statements

Responsibilities of the Senior Accounting Manager / Cost Accountant:

• Implement and maintain Cost Accounting process
• Develop and maintain standard costs for all manufactured products
• Analyze cost variances (material, labor, overhead) and provide recommendations for cost optimization
• Monitor inventory valuation and ensure accurate financial reporting of raw materials, WIP, and finished goods
• Conduct cycle counts and reconcile discrepancies between physical inventory and financial records
• Ensure proper accounting for scrap, rework and obsolete inventory
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual cost reports for management
• Educate Sr. Accountant in Cost Accounting function so they can maintain the process
• Manage Monthly and Quarterly Close processes
• Provide audit support
• Transition to Accounting Manager role (if interested)
• Assist in budgeting and forecasting activities related to manufacturing costs
• Other duties as assigned
