Senior Accounting Operations Manager

We are currently recruiting on behalf of a leading US law firm to assist them in their search for a new Senior Accounting Operations Manager to join their London office.

This is a senior operational leadership role within the European Finance function, with responsibility for overseeing Accounts Payable, Supplier Management and Cashiers across the region.

Working closely with the Director of Finance and senior finance stakeholders across Europe, you will play a key role in strengthening financial controls, ensuring regulatory compliance, and driving greater consistency, efficiency, and resilience across accounting operations.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Leading the day-to-day operations of the European Accounts Payable, Supplier Management and Cashiers/Cash Receipts functions.
• Acting as a subject matter expert on SRA Accounts Rules and client money requirements.
• Designing, implementing, and enhancing internal controls across cash handling, payments, disbursements, and supplier management.
• Leading, coaching, and developing the accounting operations team.
• Managing and optimising invoice, expense and supplier onboarding processes.
• Partnering with internal teams to maximise system effectiveness and strengthen controls.
• Identifying and implementing opportunities to use automation and AI-enabled technology.
• Working closely with the Director of Finance and finance leads across Europe and the Middle East to standardise processes and explore opportunities for greater operational efficiency.
• Establishing and monitoring KPIs and performance metrics, using data to identify process improvements.
• Taking ownership of escalated operational issues and high-priority matters.
• Maintaining and enhancing procedures and process documentation.

As a result, they are seeking applicants with 10+ years of accounting operation experience across AP, cash receipts, and supplier management functions, ideally within a law firm, although professional services environments will also be considered. Applicants must have extensive knowledge of the SRA Accounts Rules, be confident in developing teams, and take a proactive approach to automation and AI.

Demonstrated experience with Coupa, Emburse, and 3E is highly desired.
