About us

JRZ Built is an established Bundaberg building group delivering residential and commercial construction across several business units. As our business grows, we’re strengthening our finance team and seeking an experienced Accounts Manager to lead our accounts function.

About the role

Reporting to our Accountant, you’ll take a hands-on leadership role, overseeing accounts payable and receivable and supporting an AP/AR Accounts Officer and Bookkeeper.

Our accounts function handles approximately 1,000 supplier invoices each month across multiple entities. You’ll organise workloads, provide technical guidance and maintain clear financial controls, while helping improve how the team works.

An immediate start is preferred to maximise the opportunity for a structured handover with our outgoing team member.

What you’ll do

• Lead, train and support the accounts team, with clear priorities and responsibilities.
• Oversee AP/AR processing, deadlines, outstanding balances and complex queries.
• Review payment runs and coordinate approval under established financial delegations.
• Oversee commercial retention records, reconciliations and release processes, working with the Accountant and project team on complex matters.
• Review month-end reconciliations, journals and supporting reports.
• Support job costing and management reporting.
• Maintain internal controls, including supplier setup and bank-detail verification.
• Develop practical procedures, cross-training and reliable backup coverage.
• Identify and implement system improvements in consultation with the Accountant and software providers.
• Provide hands-on accounts support where needed while maintaining oversight of the team’s capacity.

About you

• Substantial accounts experience, including demonstrated supervision or team leadership.
• Strong AP/AR, reconciliation and month-end skills.
• A practical, supportive approach to leadership and clear communication.
• Experience managing priorities and resolving complex accounts issues.
• Confidence using MYOB Acumatica, formerly MYOB Advanced, or a comparable accounting or ERP system.
• Experience with Traild or a comparable invoice-processing platform is highly regarded.
• Strong Excel skills and an interest in improving processes.
• Construction accounts experience, including progress claims and retentions, is highly regarded.
• A relevant accounting diploma or degree is desirable.
