National Security and Resilience Group | Wellington | Permanent, Full-time****Join DPMC at the heart of government and help shape New Zealand's national security and resilience.

We're looking for experienced Senior Advisors to join the National Security and Resilience Group:

• Senior Advisor – National Security Coordination and Emerging Issues
• Senior Advisor – National Security Strategy and Policy

These are unique opportunities to influence policy and strategy on issues that matter most to New Zealand, working alongside agencies across the public sector and with international partners to strengthen our national security and resilience.

About the roles | Mō tēnei tūranga mahi

As a Senior Advisor, you'll lead complex policy work, provide high-quality advice to senior leaders and Ministers, and help shape New Zealand's approach to national security and resilience.

Working as part of the National Security Policy and Coordination Directorate, you'll contribute to strategic, system-wide outcomes by:

• leading significant policy projects and workstreams
• developing evidence-based policy advice, Cabinet papers and Ministerial briefings
• analysing complex and emerging national security issues
• coordinating work across agencies and the wider national security system
• building trusted relationships with stakeholders across government and internationally
• representing DPMC in cross-agency forums and international engagements
• mentoring and supporting the development of less experienced advisors.

About you | Mōu anō

You'll be an experienced policy professional who enjoys working in complex environments and building trusted relationships to influence outcomes.

We're looking for someone who brings:

• a relevant tertiary qualification
• at least four years' policy or related experience
• experience producing high-quality policy advice for senior decision makers
• excellent analytical, written and communication skills
• the ability to simplify complex issues and exercise sound judgement
• proven relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills
• enthusiasm, curiosity and a collaborative approach.

Experience in national security, resilience or cross-government policy is desirable but not essential.

What we offer | Tā mātou e tuku

The remuneration range for these roles is$111,258–$121,489 total remuneration (inclusive of KiwiSaver). Appointments will be based on skills, experience and internal relativities.

Security requirements | Ngā Whakaritenga Haumarutanga

You must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Special (TSS) security clearance. Normally this requires New Zealand citizenship or a Resident class visa. Alternatively, you must have been a citizen of the UK, USA, Canada or Australia with a 15-year checkable background.
