We license process technologies in clean fuels, renewables, petrochemicals, polymers, gas processing and supply lifecycle services, catalysts, proprietary equipment and digitalization to customers worldwide. We are currently seeking a talented and driven Senior AI Engineer to join our Advanced Intelligence Group (AIG) at our Brno office. The AIG will focus on exploring ways to utilize AI within Lummus Technology to empower our business units and fundamentally transform how our company operates. This position will work directly with our world-class experts in process engineering, design, and project management - collaborating across our global offices - to solve their toughest challenges. Our goal is to augment our people, freeing them from repetitive work so they can focus on the high-value, creative problem-solving that has made Lummus a global leader. If you’re driven to see your work come to life in tangible, industrial-scale applications and to weave your own thread of innovation into our company’s future, we want to talk to you.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner directly with business and engineering leaders to understand their core challenges and translate those needs into technical specifications for AI solutions.
- Design, build, train, and deploy a wide range of machine learning and generative AI models to solve complex problems.
- Develop and manage the data pipelines required for our AI systems, ensuring data quality and readiness for model training and inference.
- Integrate AI models into existing Lummus business applications and workflows using APIs and other services to create seamless user experiences.
- Fine-tune and evaluate large language models (LLMs) and vision models on our proprietary data, with a focus on performance, accuracy, and IP security.
- Own the full lifecycle of AI applications, from initial prototyping and experimentation through deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
- Foster innovation by researching new techniques and technologies to stay at the forefront of the rapidly evolving AI landscape.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering or other engineering discipline, Mathematics, Data Science, or a relevant field.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in an engineering or applied technical discipline.
- Proficiency in Python and its data science ecosystem (Pandas, NumPy, and others).
- Strong experience with ML frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
- Strong experience building modern GenAI stacks, including RAG pipelines, vector databases, and orchestration frameworks such as LangChain or similar.
- Familiarity with containerization and deployment tooling (e.g., Docker) and CI/CD practices.
- Experience with Git for version control, including repository management, branching, and push/pull workflows.
- Must be available to work from our Brno office as part of a 4+1 hybrid system - we are unable to offer this role as fully remote.
- Must be willing to work as a full-time permanent employee - we are unable to consider contractors.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in process engineering, chemical, or related industries.
- Experience with advanced agentic concepts such as multi-agent systems or complex planning techniques.
- Expertise with our key partner platforms, including Microsoft Azure, Copilot Studio, Databricks, or Google Cloud (Vertex AI).
