Senior AI Engineer

Summary

The Senior AI Engineer, Agentic Solutions, under general supervision, serves as a hands-on builder of enterprise AI solutions. The role architects and develops multi-agent systems using Azure AI Services, Azure AI Foundry Agent Service, Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Search, and Microsoft Copilot Studio. Working closely with business stakeholders, engineers, and subject-matter experts, this position translates complex business challenges into practical AI solutions, rapidly prototypes and tests ideas, and iterates based on user feedback to create measurable value for engineers and other end users.

Key responsibilities:

• Design and develop AI agents using Azure AI Foundry Agent Service and Microsoft Copilot Studio.
• Implement agent routing, tool calling, memory, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), structured outputs, validation, exception handling, and human-review workflows.
• Partner directly with business leaders, engineers, product partners, and subject-matter experts to understand engineering workflows and translate domain knowledge into reliable AI products.
• Build rapid, end-to-end prototypes and refine them through short development cycles, hands-on testing, and frequent user feedback.
• Integrate enterprise knowledge sources and services through Azure AI Search, APIs, Azure Functions, and Azure AI Document Intelligence, with appropriate traceability and access controls.
• Define practical technical approaches, architecture patterns, and reusable components for secure, maintainable agent solutions.
• Establish evaluation criteria and test AI behaviors for accuracy, relevance, reliability, and usefulness in real engineering workflows.
• Perform design and code reviews, mentor other engineers, and share effective AI engineering practices across the team.
• Balance delivery speed with security, governance, explainability, and enterprise requirements.
• Work as part of a cross-functional, agile team and perform other duties as directed.

Qualifications:

• University degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of software engineering, AI engineering, or related development experience, including generative AI applications in production or pilot environments.
• Advanced Python development and API integration skills, with experience building modular, testable applications.
• Hands-on experience developing agents with Azure AI Foundry Agent Service is essential.
• Experience with Microsoft Copilot Studio, Azure AI Search, RAG, Azure Functions, and Azure AI Document Intelligence is strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to convert ambiguous business problems into practical technical designs and working prototypes.
• Ability to collaborate closely with business teams and engineers, communicate technical tradeoffs clearly, and incorporate user feedback quickly.
• Experience reviewing implementations, mentoring engineers, and making pragmatic architecture decisions in a fast-moving environment.
