The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Lead AI Architect / Lead AI Engineer to design, build, and deliver enterprise-scale Agentic AI and Generative AI solutions. This role will focus on developing production-ready AI platforms that enhance decision-making, automate complex processes, and create measurable business value within highly regulated environments.

You will combine deep technical expertise in AI architecture, LLMs, multi-agent systems, and cloud engineering with strong stakeholder engagement and leadership capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

AI Architecture & Agentic AI Leadership

• Design and deliver end-to-end multi-agent AI systems using modern orchestration frameworks.
• Architect production-grade Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) solutions with robust governance and traceability.
• Define AI evaluation frameworks, guardrails, monitoring standards, and model governance processes.
• Build scalable AI platforms supporting enterprise-wide adoption.
• Develop reusable AI assets, frameworks, and accelerators.

AI Operations & Governance

• Implement LLMOps and MLOps best practices across the AI lifecycle.
• Establish monitoring for model performance, drift, hallucination rates, latency, and cost efficiency.
• Lead Responsible AI initiatives, ensuring compliance, explainability, and risk management.
• Support secure deployment and ongoing optimisation of AI solutions in production environments.

AI Strategy & Advisory

• Assess organisational AI maturity and identify opportunities for business transformation.
• Define AI roadmaps, target architectures, and operating models.
• Work closely with senior business and technology stakeholders to align AI initiatives with strategic objectives.
• Translate complex technical concepts into practical business outcomes.

Required Experience

Technical Background

• 8+ years' experience delivering AI, machine learning, or advanced analytics solutions in production environments.
• Proven experience designing and deploying enterprise-scale Generative AI and Agentic AI solutions.
• Strong hands-on expertise with:
• Python
• Cloud-native architectures
• API development (REST and/or gRPC)
• Distributed systems
• Vector databases and semantic search technologies
• RAG architectures and LLM integrations

AI & Engineering Technologies

Experience with some of the following:

• LangChain, LangGraph, Semantic Kernel, AutoGen, CrewAI or similar
• Azure OpenAI, OpenAI, Anthropic or open-source LLMs
• Databricks, MLflow, Azure ML
• Apache Spark, Kafka, Delta Lake
• Docker and Kubernetes
• Terraform and CI/CD tooling
• Monitoring and observability platforms

Leadership & Stakeholder Management

• Experience leading cross-functional teams of engineers, data scientists, and technical specialists.
• Strong client-facing and stakeholder management skills.
• Demonstrated success taking AI solutions from concept through to enterprise production deployment.
• Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.

Desirable Experience

• Experience within financial services, insurance, banking, or other regulated industries.
• Knowledge of underwriting, claims, risk modelling, pricing, or operational automation.
• Background in classical machine learning, forecasting, optimisation, or advanced analytics.
• Exposure to conversational AI or voice-enabled AI solutions.
