About GuestWisely

GuestWisely is a global property management software platform serving professional vacation-rental and property-management companies in approximately 40 countries.

We are now building AI deeply into the GuestWisely platform, with the objective of creating intelligent tools that understand guests, reservations, properties, communications and operational context—not simply generic AI features added to an existing application.

Our first phase of AI development includes intelligent guest messaging, translation, review moderation and our AI guest assistant, Wisely .

Much of the underlying integration for Phase 1 has already been developed. We are now looking for an experienced AI/LLM engineer to bring this capability in-house, take technical ownership of the existing work and help us build the next generation of GuestWisely's AI platform.

The Role

This is a hands-on engineering role with substantial ownership.

Your immediate responsibility will be to understand and take ownership of an existing AI implementation developed by an external engineering partner.

You will work with their engineers to understand the existing codebase and architecture, document it, identify technical risks and ensure that GuestWisely can independently maintain and develop the system.

From there, your focus will move increasingly toward improving the intelligence, reliability and capabilities of GuestWisely's AI products.

We are not simply looking for someone who can connect an application to an LLM API.

We want to build AI that understands context, maintains useful conversational state, retrieves the right information, reasons appropriately about what it knows and does not know, and ultimately helps both guests and property managers accomplish real tasks.

Immediate Responsibilities

• Review and understand the existing GuestWisely AI codebase and architecture.
• Work with our current external development partner to recover and document existing development knowledge.
• Establish clear technical documentation for the AI system.
• Identify dependencies, technical debt, security risks and single points of failure.
• Verify that GuestWisely has everything required to independently build, deploy and maintain the system.
• Assess the current state of each Phase 1 AI feature.
• Diagnose current shortcomings in AI response quality and behaviour.
• Stabilise the existing implementation and ensure development can continue safely.
• Establish appropriate testing, monitoring and evaluation processes for AI-generated responses.

Longer-Term Responsibilities

• Take technical ownership of GuestWisely's AI architecture.
• Develop and improve AI-powered guest messaging and assistance.
• Improve contextual understanding across guests, reservations, properties, policies and previous conversations.
• Design effective retrieval and context-management systems.
• Develop RAG and other knowledge-retrieval architectures where appropriate.
• Improve multi-turn conversational intelligence and memory.
• Develop mechanisms that reduce hallucination and prevent unsupported answers.
• Build appropriate confidence, verification and escalation mechanisms.
• Design structured AI workflows and agentic capabilities where appropriate.
• Integrate AI with GuestWisely APIs and operational workflows so that AI can move beyond answering questions toward safely assisting with actions.
• Develop automated evaluation frameworks for response accuracy, relevance, tone and task completion.
• Monitor model performance, latency and cost.
• Evaluate new models, tools and AI technologies and determine when they provide genuine product value.
• Help define GuestWisely's longer-term AI architecture and product roadmap.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for a strong software engineer who has developed real-world LLM applications.

You should have practical experience with several of the following:

• Production integration of major LLM APIs such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Google or equivalent.
• Python and/or other relevant backend development languages.
• REST APIs and SaaS application architecture.
• Prompt and system-instruction design.
• Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG).
• Embeddings and vector databases.
• Context management and conversational state.
• Structured outputs and tool/function calling.
• Agentic or multi-step AI workflows.
• LLM evaluation and testing.
• Hallucination mitigation and grounding.
• Logging, monitoring and debugging AI systems.
• Cloud deployment and production environments.
• Git and modern software-development practices.

Particularly Valuable Experience

Experience with any of the following would be especially useful:

• AI assistants or conversational applications used by real customers.
• Hospitality, travel or property-management systems.
• High-volume customer messaging.
• Multi-tenant SaaS platforms.
• AI systems that combine structured database information with unstructured knowledge.
• Systems in which AI can securely execute or recommend actions through application APIs.
• Taking ownership of an unfamiliar or poorly documented codebase.
• Migrating software from an outsourced development environment to an internal engineering team.

What Matters Most

We care less about academic AI credentials than demonstrated ability to build reliable AI products.

The successful candidate will be someone who can look at an AI response that is technically correct but not genuinely intelligent and ask:

Why did the system respond this way, what information or reasoning was missing, and how should we change the architecture so that it behaves better next time?

You should be comfortable working independently, investigating unfamiliar systems and taking ownership of problems that do not already have clearly defined solutions.

You should also be pragmatic. We are interested in applying AI where it genuinely improves the product—not adopting new technology simply because it is fashionable.

The Opportunity

AI is expected to become a major part of the GuestWisely product and technology strategy.

This role therefore offers the opportunity to move quickly from inheriting an existing implementation to having significant influence over the architecture and direction of an AI platform used by professional property managers and their guests around the world.
