(Senior) Analyst

About the Business

China's Indirect Taxes, including Value-added Tax ("VAT"), Consumption Tax ("CT") and Customs Duty ("CD"), are taxes on transaction basis. Indirect tax revenue constitutes more than half of the nation's overall tax revenue. The tax authorities, as well as Customs have stepped up measures to ensure proper administration and collection of Indirect Taxes.
The core of our service philosophy is to assist clients in the Indirect Tax compliance review to ensure meeting legal and regulatory requirements, and offer ideas in Indirect Tax cost saving and (cross-border) operating models optimization that align with the clients' overall business objectives.

Work you'll do

• Understand, apply, and monitor tax returns and refunds, their implications, opportunities, and optimization
• Collaborate with the departments of authorities, familiarizing him/herself with local tax organizational structure, responsibilities, rights and obligations of both taxpayers and tax authorities
• Effectively applies understanding of key VAT/GST laws, regulations and court case rulings in area of specialism to all client deliverables
• Perform complex technical, risk, and opportunity analyses based on particular customs laws, rulings, jurisprudence facts and circumstances of the client
• Draft client deliverables detailing interpretations of domestic and international laws, business and technical findings, and proposes recommendations/solutions
• Identify client's needs, and underlying business and industry issues, by asking relevant, specific questions and makes recommendations to Mastery level specialists
• Provide initial recommendations of current tax legislation across the Global Tax and Business Advisory function to Manager level practitioners
• Select appropriate methods for collecting and analyzing data, and develops informed recommendations that shape or support the client’s business strategy
• Articulate how technology enables the business and communicates this effectively to clients while ensuring appropriate technologies and methodologies are used on projects

We are looking for someone with

• Bachelor or above degree holder in tax, accounting, finance, law or other related disciplines
• Professional accounting qualification or PRC registered tax agent or lawyer is required
• Over three years of experience related with Value Added Tax in CPA firms (Big 4 experience is preferred), law firms, tax authorities or large corporation
• In-depth understanding of tax policies, rules and regulations
• Strong analytical and highly commitment to quality client service
• Strong consultation skills, communication skills, self-initiation, teamwork spirit and willingness to work under pressure
• A mature, proactive, committed team player
• Excellent project management and interpersonal skills
• Excellent leadership and business development skills
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in both English and Mandarin Chinese, including both technical and business writing, documentation and presentation skills
• Willing to travel
