Senior Analyst (Trading & Risk Systems)

Join Senoko Energy as a SeniorAnalyst and play a key role in supporting the technology that powers our wholesale trading, portfolio and risk operations. This is a hands-on techno-functional role for an experienced applications professional who enjoys solving complex problems, partnering with business teams and improving critical systems.

You will oversee a portfolio of Energy & Gas Trading systems and their ecosystem of spreadsheets, scripts and integrations. Your work will directly support gas contracting and nominations, electricity pricing and dispatch, hedge and counterparty monitoring, forecasting, and management reporting.

What you’ll do

• Own critical applications: Keep trading and risk systems secure, reliable and available through proactive monitoring, administration, maintenance, patching, disaster recovery, documentation and lifecycle management.
• Lead incident response: Coordinate users, vendors, infrastructure and cybersecurity teams to restore production services quickly, including 24/7 support for critical incidents when required.
• Turn business needs into solutions: Translate business requirements into practical functional and technical designs, improve data flows and interfaces, and deliver testing, training, deployment and documentation.
• Drive modernisation: Propose and execute multi-year roadmaps covering application upgrades, adopt technology stacks, DevOps practices, source control, automated testing, CI/CD, deployment automation and future capacity needs.
• Lead projects end to end: Manage scope, plans, budgets, resources, risks, quality, stakeholder communications and post-implementation reviews.
• Manage vendors and procurement: Oversee SLAs, KPIs, contracts and renewals; assess build, buy or outsource options; lead tender documentation, evaluations, demonstrations, proof-of-concepts and vendor recommendations.
• Strengthen data and security: Maintain data schemas, dictionaries, flow diagrams and quality rules while ensuring compliance with cybersecurity architecture and information security requirements.
• Improve continuously: Identify emerging technologies—including AI-enabled solutions—that can enhance software delivery, operational resilience and business performance.

What you’ll bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• At least 6 years of relevant experience supporting, enhancing or implementing enterprise applications across development, testing and production environments.
• Ability to bridge business and technology, collaborate with business stakeholders and work closely with application vendors, infrastructure teams and cybersecurity specialists.
• Practical experience in application support, incident and problem management, change and release management, system implementation, integrations and project delivery.
• Hands-on knowledge of Microsoft Azure and on-premises environments, including App Services, databases, networking, servers, operating systems, firewalls, DNS, load balancers, high availability and disaster recovery.
• Experience supporting .NET applications and working with C#, PowerShell or Python.
• Strong understanding of APIs and system integrations; experience with SOAP APIs and SFTP is advantageous.
• Proficiency in writing and debugging T-SQL queries for application and data troubleshooting.
• Exposure to modernising legacy development and deployment practices using DevOps, CI/CD, automated testing, Infrastructure as Code, version control or release governance.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, stakeholder coordination and documentation skills.

Good to have

• Knowledge of database performance monitoring and optimisation.
• Understanding of how networks, firewalls and security policies affect application performance.
• Experience evaluating, piloting or scaling AI-enabled solutions that deliver measurable business value.
• Azure, PMP, PRINCE2, CBAP or ITIL certifications.
