Senior Analyst/Analyst (Institutional Research) in the Communications and Institutional Research Office*[Ref. R/223/26]*

Duties

The appointee will assist with institutional data analytics and global university ranking analysis, utilising IT skills to automate processes, optimise data pipelines, and improve operational efficiency in support of University strategic development.

S/he will be required to:

1. Query, extract, and clean large, complex datasets from various databases and web sources using SQL and other tools to make them analysis-ready;
2. Analyse institutional data and global rankings metrics to identify trends, historical patterns, and key benchmarks that support strategic University decision-making;
3. Utilise programming and scripting languages (such as C#, JScript, Python, or R) and data formats (such as JSON) to automate routine data extraction, data processing, and reporting workflows to increase operational efficiency;
4. Assist in building interactive dashboards (e.g. Qlik/Power BI, or Tableau) and compile clear analytics reports to deliver clear, data-driven insights efficiently to University leadership; and
5. Perform any other duties as assigned.

Requirements

1. A Bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science/Information Technology/Data Science/Statistics, or a related quantitative computing discipline;
2. A minimum of 5 years of post-qualification working experience in technical data analytics, business intelligence, or institutional research;
3. Proficiency in SQL for database querying and data management;
4. Competency in programming or scripting languages (such as C#, Jscript, Python or R) and data formats (such as JSON); and
5. Hands-on experience with business intelligence platforms (e.g. Qlik/Power BI, or Tableau) are required.
6. Solid understanding of global university rankings methodologies (e.g. QS, Times Higher Education, ARWU) and performance indicators is highly preferred.

Candidate with less relevant post-qualification experience may be considered for appointment as Analyst (Institutional Research).

Salary and Conditions of Service

Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract; fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes.
