Senior & Intermediate Front End Developer

Role Purpose

The role will take ownership of significant frontend initiatives, help shape platform

architecture and establish patterns that support consistent delivery across the engineering

team. The successful candidate must be able to make sound technical decisions, explain

trade-offs clearly and guide other engineers while remaining actively involved in delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain complex frontend applications using React.
• Take ownership of major technical initiatives from initial concept through delivery.
• Help shape frontend architecture and define scalable patterns for use across the team.
• Make technical decisions and clearly communicate the reasoning, risks and trade-offs.
• Contribute to the modernization and long-term technical direction of an established platform.
• Identify and address technical risks, dependencies and technical debt.
• Review code and promote consistent design, testing and engineering standards.
• Improve application performance, reliability and maintainability.
• Work with backend engineers and APIs to maintain clean system boundaries.
• Investigate complex technical problems and drive them to resolution.
• Provide practical guidance and mentorship to intermediate engineers.
• Contribute to technical discussions, knowledge sharing and delivery planning.

Essential Experience and Skills

• At least 7 years of professional software development experience, including senior-level delivery responsibility.
• Strong hands-on experience with React and modern JavaScript and/or TypeScript.
• Experience designing frontend architecture for large or complex applications.
• Strong understanding of component architecture, state management and application structure.
• Experience integrating frontend applications with APIs and backend services.
• Strong knowledge of testing, performance and maintainability principles.
• Strong Git, code review and collaborative engineering experience.
• Ability to make independent technical decisions and explain trade-offs clearly.
• Experience owning projects or substantial technical workstreams from idea through delivery.
• Demonstrated technical leadership, mentoring and communication skills.

Advantageous Experience

• Experience with Java and Spring in a full-stack development environment.
• Relevant frontend, architecture or web development certifications.
• Experience leading a frontend rewrite or large-scale platform modernization programme.

Qualifications

A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field is

preferred. Equivalent practical experience may also be considered, subject to client

requirements.

Assignment Conditions

The assignment may be subject to client-mandated background screening relevant to the

role. Final engagement details, working arrangements and commencement dates will be

confirmed during the selection and contracting process.

Pay: R50 000,00 - R110 000,00 per month
