About the Role:

We are looking for a Senior Android Platform Engineer with at least 8 years of experience , to help shape the technical direction of our mobile ecosystem. In this high-impact 6-month contract role , you'll focus on building robust shared libraries, elevating Android application architecture and driving AI-enablement initiatives.

If you're passionate about mobile platform architecture, developer experience (DevEx) and writing exceptional Kotlin code, this is your chance to lead technical transformations at a massive scale.

Responsibilities:

• Drive Platform Architecture: Set and evolve the technical roadmap for our Android platform, designing scalable frameworks, shared capabilities and reusable components.
• Elevate Developer Experience (DevEx): Build self-service tooling, optimise Android Studio configurations and create comprehensive documentation to streamline local development for multiple mobile teams.
• Lead Technical Delivery: Act as a technical anchor (and potential Epic Lead) for complex Android projects including architecture modernisation, AI integrations and navigation library upgrades.
• Champion Engineering Excellence: Partner with product and platform teams to improve CI/CD pipelines, application security, performance optimisation and observability.
• Collaborate & Influence: Work seamlessly across federated cross-functional teams (including iOS and Platform engineers) in a distributed environment (Malaysia & Australia) to solve recurring technical challenges.
• Mentor & Grow: Foster an inclusive, continuous-learning environment by coaching engineers, running design reviews and raising the bar for Android engineering practices.

Qualifications & Required Skills:

• Deep Android Expertise: Significant commercial experience building native Android applications and platform capabilities.
• Modern Tech Stacks: Advanced proficiency in Kotlin and Jetpack Compose , alongside a strong understanding of the Android SDK and legacy XML layouts .
• Systems Thinking: Proven experience designing and scaling Android application architecture, modularisation, shared libraries and dependency management.
• Delivery & Automation: Hands-on experience with mobile CI/CD pipelines and automated software delivery practices.
• Leadership Without Authority: Demonstrated ability to drive technical standards, influence cross-functional stakeholders, and coordinate cross-team initiatives.

Bonus Points (If You Have):

• Experiences working in a dedicated Mobile Platform Engineering environment.
• Familiarity with supporting federated teams or multi-brand product lines.
• A track record of driving mobile architecture modernisation and performance optimisation.
