Senior Apache Airflow Developer

We are looking for an experienced Senior Airflow Developer to build and support enterprise data-integration and workflow-automation solutions. You will develop scalable Airflow pipelines, connect critical enterprise platforms and help maintain trusted data flows across ServiceNow CMDB, Neo4j, Elasticsearch and other business systems.

This is a hands-on role for a strong Python and Airflow engineer who enjoys solving complex integration problems. You will work with Data Engineers, Business Analysts, ServiceNow Developers, Infrastructure teams and Product Owners to improve automation, data quality, dependency mapping and operational reliability.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

* Design, deploy and maintain Apache Airflow DAGs for data extraction, transformation, validation, synchronisation and reporting.

* Manage scheduling, dependencies, retries, alerting, monitoring and troubleshooting across development, test and production environments.

* Build ETL/ELT pipelines and API-based integrations with ServiceNow, Qualys, CrowdStrike, Salesforce, Planview, Oracle, EDW and other enterprise source systems.

* Develop and maintain Neo4j graph models and optimise Cypher queries for dependency mapping, relationship management, reporting and analysis.

* Design and support Elasticsearch indexes, queries and search services.

* Maintain ServiceNow CMDB integrations, including data extraction, transformation, validation and synchronisation.

* Build data-quality checks, reconciliation processes, logging and operational monitoring.

* Support production incidents, root-cause analysis, releases, testing and technical runbooks.

MUST-HAVE SKILLS

Python and Apache Airflow

CRITICAL

You have strong Python development skills, with at least three years' Python and two years' Apache Airflow experience. You can build reliable DAGs, manage scheduling and dependencies, troubleshoot failures and optimise pipeline performance.

Data Engineering and Enterprise Integration

CORE

You have experience developing ETL/ELT pipelines and integrating enterprise applications through REST APIs, web services, file interfaces and database connectivity. You understand data validation, reconciliation and the operational requirements of batch and near-real-time synchronisation.

Neo4j and Graph Data

CORE

You have experience with Neo4j or comparable graph-database technologies. You can work with graph data models and Cypher, helping to maintain accurate relationships, dependencies and lineage data through Airflow-driven integration pipelines.

Elasticsearch and ServiceNow CMDB

REQUIRED

You have experience with Elasticsearch implementations and understand index design, search queries and performance considerations. Experience integrating ServiceNow CMDB data, including working with ServiceNow APIs and data structures, is important.

Production Support and Platform Engineering

REQUIRED

You are comfortable supporting production data-integration platforms, including incident resolution, root-cause analysis, monitoring, logging, deployment and release activity. You can create clear operational documentation and technical runbooks.

Supporting Technical Tooling

REQUIRED

You are confident with SQL and relational databases, Linux administration and scripting, Docker/containerised applications, and Git or Bitbucket source control. You can work effectively within established data-integration architecture and engineering practices.

GOOD TO HAVE - NOT A BLOCKER

* Experience in IT Operations or Enterprise Data Services environments.

* Knowledge of data governance, compliance, audit requirements or data lifecycle management.

* Experience with graph-based lineage, dependency mapping or CMDB solutions.

* Familiarity with Agile/Scrum delivery and large-scale enterprise integrations.
