Senior Application Developer

Job Summary

We are looking for a Senior Application Developer with strong experience supporting and enhancing mission‑critical banking applications in a high‑availability, regulatory‑driven environment. The role requires hands‑on expertise across Unix, Oracle (SQL/PLSQL), Python, Java, Shell scripting , and ServiceNow .

Key Responsibilities

Application Development & Enhancement (Banking Context)

• Design, develop, and enhance banking and financial applications supporting areas such as payments, trade processing, wealth management, risk, or regulatory reporting
• Develop solutions using Java, Python, Shell scripting , and Oracle PL/SQL
• Ensure all development follows banking security standards , coding best practices, and internal risk controls
• Participate in application modernization initiatives while maintaining legacy systems

Unix & Automation

• Work extensively in Unix/Linux environments
• Develop and maintain Shell scripts for:
• Batch job automation
• Monitoring and alerting
• File transfers (SFTP/FTPS)
• Troubleshoot OS‑level issues affecting trading, payments, or settlement systems

Database & Data Handling

• Design, develop, and optimize Oracle SQL and PL/SQL objects (packages, procedures, functions)
• Tune complex queries handling large financial datasets
• Support data validation, reconciliation, and audit requirements
• Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and traceability for compliance purposes

ITSM, Risk & Compliance (additional skill set)

• Use ServiceNow for Incident, Problem

Collaboration & Leadership

• Work closely with:
• Business users (Operations, Risk, Finance)
• QA, Infrastructure, Database, and DevOps teams
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior team members
• Participate in architecture reviews and system enhancement discussions
• Communicate clearly with stakeholders during incidents and releases

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 7–10 years of experience in application development and production support
• Strong hands‑on expertise in:
• Unix/Linux
• Shell Scripting
• Oracle Database
• Oracle PL/SQL
• Python / Java
• ServiceNow
• Proven experience supporting banking or financial‑services applications
• Excellent problem‑solving, debugging, and analytical skills
• Strong communication skills for working in regulated, business‑critical environments

Nice to Have (Highly Valued in Banking)

• Experience with batch schedulers (Control‑M, Autosys, Cron)
• Exposure to CI/CD and DevOps tools (Git, Jenkins)
• Knowledge of financial instruments, transactions, or accounting flows
• Experience working in:
• Retail Banking
• Capital Markets
• Wealth Management
• Payments & Settlements

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering , or equivalent practical experience
