What they need

Who you are

  • Note: You don’t need to meet every listed qualification to be considered — we value diverse experiences and learning potential
  • 4–6 years of experience in software engineering, systems integration or workplace technology development, with a focus on automation or scripting
  • Proficiency in one or more programming/scripting languages (Java, Go, Python, JavaScript/Apps Script, Bash, PowerShell) and comfortable with RESTful APIs, webhooks, and integration frameworks
  • Familiarity with SaaS platforms (Google Workspace, Slack, Zoom, Atlassian) and interest in agentic/AI workflows (LLMs, agents, prompt pipelines)
  • Understanding of IAM/SSO (Okta, SAML/OIDC/SCIM) or a willingness to grow in this area; experience automating provisioning/access is a plus
  • Experience or curiosity about CI/CD, workflow orchestration, and building self-service delivery models that leverage agents or automation
  • Strong troubleshooting, documentation and cross-functional communication skills; comfortable collaborating with non-technical partners and translating automation into tangible operational gains
  • A growth mindset: you embrace learning new AI technologies, care about user experience, and seek to improve systems through intelligent workflows
  • Interest in building agentic flows (for example: bots that triage tickets, summarize documents, assist user tasks) and integrating them responsibly into workplace systems
  • Commitment to our values:
  • Welcoming differences
  • Being relationship-minded
  • Practicing responsible participation
  • Having grit

What the job involves

  • The role is part of the IT Function within the broader Mozilla Infrastructure team. The IT team supports ERP Services, Workplace services, Service-Desk and On-Prem DC Services across the organization aligned with the mission to build a safe & secure internet
  • As a Software (Application) Engineer in the newly formed Workplace technology team, you’ll help design, build, and maintain the systems and automations that power Mozilla’s workplace technologies — from collaboration and AI productivity tools to identity and access workflows. You’ll manage day-to-day administration, develop scripts and integrations, and contribute to projects that improve reliability, security, and user experience
  • This role is hands-on and growth-oriented, offering opportunities to deepen your technical expertise while shaping how Mozillians work and collaborate
  • Design, build, and maintain scripts, APIs, and workflow automations that power key workplace systems — collaboration tools (Google Workspace, Slack, Zoom, Atlassian) and identity platforms (Okta)
  • Develop lightweight services or integrations that connect collaboration, GenAI-tools (OpenAI, Claude, Gemini) and internal systems, enabling agentic flows (e.g., virtual assistants, workflow agents) that reduce manual work and improve user experience
  • Implement monitoring, logging and observability for automation and AI workflows; troubleshoot issues and uncover opportunities for reliability, scalability, and cost-efficiency
  • Contribute to the evolution of secure onboarding, off-boarding, and mover workflows across access, permissions and SaaS tools — with automation and safe agentic handoffs where appropriate
  • Collaborate with IT, Security, and People teams to ensure identity, data, and compliance standards (SSO, DLP, classification) are deeply embedded through automation and script-driven guardrails
  • Participate in pilot projects for new AI and productivity capabilities: integrate LLMs & agents, track usage/adoption metrics, build flows that assist users (e.g., knowledge-agent, document summarizer)
  • Contribute to the code-review process, documentation of shared libraries for workflows/agents, and build a library of integration templates for reuse across the team
  • Partner with senior engineers to modernize workplace systems through scalable architecture, API-first design, and intelligent agentic workflows

Benefits

  • Health and wellness: Mozilla covers medical, dental and vision plan premiums at 100% for U.S. and Canadian employees. Our offerings give you the options you need to manage your health — and your family’s — the way you want.
  • Mental health: Mental health is as important as our physical health. That’s why Mozilla’s health benefits include therapy and coaching sessions to make sure our people have access to the care they need.
  • Time away: With all of life’s demands, time away from work to disconnect and recharge is essential. In addition to country-specific holidays (12 in the U.S. and Canada), vacation and sick time start accruing right away (specifics vary by country). Everyone also takes a pause together on quarterly all-company wellness days, plus you get to celebrate the most personal holiday of all: your birthday.
  • Parental leave: While Mozilla’s parental leave policies vary globally, our U.S. and Canadian-based employees can look forward to 26 weeks of paid leave for childbearing parents and 12 weeks of paid leave for non-childbearing parents.
  • Financial: Mozilla is a private company, so our compensation isn’t tied to stock options or equity plans. Instead, we offer generous, performance-based bonus plans to all regular employees to underscore that we share in our success as one team. As for retirement savings for US and Canadian employees, Mozilla contributes a percentage of your eligible base salary each year to the 401(k) Plan/RRSP (regardless of whether you contribute or not), with 100% vesting.
  • Learning and development: We’re big believers in learning by doing, and we also want to invest in your education and development beyond your role. Every employee is eligible for an annual professional development budget. Mozillians can put it toward technical or management training, certifications, conferences and more.
  • Help when you need it: Life is full of surprises; that’s why it’s important to be prepared. Mozilla provides Life/AD&D and Short and Long Term Disability insurance (offerings may vary by locale) to ensure that you and your family will have a safety net in place should you ever need it.
  • Plus a bit more: A few other benefits include a quarterly wellbeing stipend (to use on those things just for you), an employee referral bonus, internet reimbursement if you’re remote, and a budget for office essentials to make working remotely ergonomically comfortable.

Other offers great for you!
