The Senior Applications Technologist will be responsible to develop winning applications for our national sales team to use on sales calls as well as design product formulations for our clients’ development use. The Senior Applications Technologist will also support the company’s Marketing team and Sales team with product innovation for PROVA trade show demos.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

Lab Maintenance:· Assist in maintaining current lab equipment (balances, ovens, dishwasher, analytical equipment etc.· Assist in ordering supplies and equipment as needed (beakers, stirrers, jars, bottles, spoons, cooking utensils, etc.)· Assist in maintaining ingredient stock of regularly used ingredients· Assist in sourcing new ingredients as needed· Follow all safety and sanitation SOPs Customer Projects:

· Manage Applications project calendar with the team

o Prioritize active project workload with Director of Apps and Sales VP

· Ensure all relevant project brief information is provided from sales manager for customer projects (general guardrails, expected completion date, when customer base/target is expected to arrive, etc)

· Communicate with sales manager project statuses, updates, challenges, etc.

· Validate that project approvals of all concepts being sent to customer

· Ensure technical summaries are completed with proper information and catalogued

New Application Formulation:

· Manage development of new application formulas for internal and external customers

· Organize project input from all departments to prioritize development process with the team

· Research new ingredients and trends

· Procure ingredients for new exploration

New Flavor Evaluation:· Evaluate new flavor references to review for possible addition to US portfolio· Test references in application(s) to determine flavor profile and optimum dosage Technical Support

· Act as technical resource for the company with regards to our references in application (profile/dosage/application) at trade shows

· Respond to customer questions on projects and usage of our references

· Join sales as requested in customer meetings

Required Qualifications:

· BS or MS degree in Food Science, Chemistry or related field

· High level knowledge of recipe ingredients/raw materials and their function in applications such as bakery, dairy, confectionary, etc.

· Preferably 5+ years’ experience in new product development in industrial food, ingredient or flavor industry

· Knowledgeable in food regulations, production processes and QA principles

· Ability to learn and be flexible in a rapidly changing business environment

· Strong sensory & descriptive organoleptic skills

· Experienced in project management and on-time delivery of projects

· Strong creativity, innovation & presentation skills

Pay: $81,000.00 - $97,700.00 per year
