Job Description Senior AI/GenAI Engineer (Python) | Chennai We're looking for a Senior AI/GenAI Engineer who is passionate about building production-ready Generative AI applications , not just prototypes. You'll work closely with founders, product teams, and US stakeholders to design, develop, and deploy scalable AI solutions that solve real-world business problems.

This is an individual contributor role with high ownership and the opportunity to shape the company's AI platform and engineering best practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy production-grade Generative AI applications.
• Build and optimize Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines using embeddings and vector databases.
• Integrate and orchestrate LLMs such as OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, Llama, and other open-source models.
• Develop scalable backend services using Python and modern API frameworks.
• Design AI workflows with a focus on performance, reliability, scalability, and cost optimization.
• Build document ingestion, embedding, semantic search, and AI retrieval pipelines.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and business teams to deliver AI-powered features for US customers.
• Drive engineering best practices, architecture decisions, and code quality across AI initiatives.

Required Skills

• 5–9 years of software engineering experience.

• Hands-on experience building and deploying production AI/ML/Generative AI applications.

• Strong understanding of:

• Large Language Models (LLMs)

• Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)

• Embeddings

• Prompt Engineering & Prompt Orchestration

• Agentic AI / AI Agents

• Experience with GenAI frameworks such as:

• LangChain

• LangGraph

• LlamaIndex

• CrewAI / AutoGen (good to have)

• Experience working with vector databases such as:

• Pinecone

• Weaviate

• FAISS

• ChromaDB

• Qdrant

• Strong backend development experience using:

• Python

• FastAPI / Flask

• REST APIs

• Async programming

• Data pipelines

• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).

• Familiarity with Docker, CI/CD, and modern software development practices.

Preferred Experience

• Production deployment of LLM-powered applications.
• Experience building AI chatbots, copilots, document intelligence, or knowledge retrieval systems.
• Exposure to multimodal AI, evaluation frameworks, and observability for AI systems.
• Experience in startup or fast-paced product environments.
