Senior Associate / Associate – Data Analytics (Technology Risk Assurance)

Job Summary

As a Senior Associate/Associate in the Technology Risk Assurance team, you will play an integral role in external audit engagements, leveraging data analytics to enhance audit quality, efficiency, and risk identification. You will work closely with financial audit teams to extract, transform, and analyse client data, identifying trends, anomalies, and insights that inform audit strategies and support audit opinions on financial statements. Your work will cover Hong Kong-listed companies, multinational corporations, financial institutions regulated by HKMA/SFC, and Mainland Chinese enterprises with cross-border operations, all in full compliance with HKSAs and HKFRS.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with financial audit teams to understand their audit objectives, identify areas of risk, and determine how data analytics can enhance audit procedures and improve efficiency
• Extract, transform, load, and analyse large volumes of client financial and operational data using advanced analytics tools (Power BI and similar) and techniques to identify trends, patterns, anomalies, and potential risk indicators.
• Perform audit data analytics procedures: including journal entry testing, revenue and cut-off analytics, inventory and margin analysis, and substantive analytical procedures that stand up to review.
• Turn one-off analysis into reusable tooling which scripts, workflows, and methodologies the team can run again.
• Coach junior colleagues on tooling and technique, and review their analysis.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Data Science, Information Technology, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Accounting, Finance, or related disciplines.
• At least 2 years (for Associate: 1–2 years) in data analytics, audit analytics, financial audit, IT audit, technology risk advisory, or related disciplines.
• Hands‑on experience with data analytics and visualisation tools, such as SQL, Python, Power BI or IDEA.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with meticulous attention to detail.
• Self‑motivated, detail‑oriented, and capable of managing multiple assignments under tight deadlines; a collaborative team player with professional integrity and willingness to travel for business trips.
• Excellent written and spoken English; proficiency in Cantonese and Mandarin is highly preferred.

Preferred attributes

• Knowledge of financial audit processes and methodology is highly desirable; experience embedding analytics into a live audit engagement is a significant advantage.
• Familiarity with ERP systems and relational database concepts; understanding of how accounting data is structured before it becomes a financial statement.
• Programming or analytics skills (e.g., Python, SQL, Power BI, Tableau) considered an advantage.
• Progress toward CISA, CPA, or a comparable qualification.
• Keen interest in staying current with emerging technologies, international standards, and regulatory developments.
