This Senior Associate is a key contributor to our ability to deliver high-impact strategic, financial, and operational solutions across practice lines. The XFn Senior Associate will report directly to senior leaders and play an active role in cross-functional engagements that span the entire deal and transformation lifecycle. You will support key initiatives, manage discrete workstreams, and work closely with clients and senior team members in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. If you thrive in a high-performance culture and want to help build the future of a rapidly growing consultancy, this is the right role for you.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with senior leaders and clients to solve financial and operational challenges across due diligence, value creation and preservation, transformation, bankruptcy readiness and IB processes (M&A, restructuring, capital raising)
  • Analyze financial statements and operational metrics, including P&L, balance sheets, cash flows, debt schedules and related KPIs
  • Build advanced financial models such as three-statement forecasts, TWCFs, DCFs, LBOs, accretion/dilution and value creation frameworks with precision and strategic alignment
  • Contribute to specialized workstreams such as DIP sizing, first day motions, vendor analysis, SOALs/SOFAs, MORs, KPI development, incentive plan design, liquidation and headcount analytics, general ledger review, footprint optimization, S&OP, org design, go-to-market strategy and business process transformation
  • Create impactful presentations and reporting packages — teasers, CIMs, KPI dashboards, financial performance updates — for boards, executives, investors and creditors
  • Provide coaching and mentorship to junior team members
  • Support internal trainings and best practice sharing
  • Support business development and client relationship efforts
  • Support talent acquisition and firm-building initiatives
  • Contribute to a high-performing, inclusive and values-driven culture

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from a top undergraduate program
  • Located or willing to relocate to Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles or New York
  • Invested in a team-based culture, motivated to collaborate in office four days per week and willing to work at client sites as needed
  • A minimum of four years of experience in investment banking or private equity
  • Formal financial modeling training from a top-tier institution or firm
  • Demonstrated ability to build three-statement models, thirteen-week cash flows, dynamic KPI dashboards and complex ad hoc analyses — or the aptitude to develop mastery quickly
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills, including executive-ready presentation and reporting skills
  • Proven ability to thrive in lean, fast-moving teams
  • High attention to detail, responsiveness and ownership mindset
  • Track record of success in high-pressure, client-facing environments
