A COBOL DB2 Developer designs, codes, tests, and maintains mainframe applications using COBOL, DB2 SQL, JCL, and VSAM. They write and optimize embedded SQL queries, manage database packages/plans, resolve production incidents, and support enterprise systems in banking, insurance, or government sectors.
- Application Development: Write, modify, and unit-test batch and online COBOL programs.
- Database Management: Write, analyze, and optimize complex DB2 SQL queries, stored procedures, and bind/package management.
- Job Control & File Handling: Create and troubleshoot JCL, PROCs, sort utilities, and VSAM (KSDS/ESDS) data sets.
- Testing & Debugging: Use TSO/ISPF, SPUFI, File-AID, and Abend-AID/Xpediter for debugging and system/UAT testing support.
- Production Support: Perform L2/L3 troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and incident recovery for mission-critical jobs.
