Associate Structural Engineer – Napier

We’re on the lookout for an Associate Structural Engineer to join our Napier team. You’ll lead projects of varying sizes and complexity, working closely with our team across Aotearoa. Alongside technical and project leadership, you’ll help develop our people, contribute to our studio culture, build client relationships and drive the business forward.

You might already be an Associate (or equivalent level), or an experienced Senior Engineer ready to take on broader responsibility. Ideally, you’ll have existing ties to Hawke’s Bay, whether you’re already based here or thinking about returning home after time away. We’re also open to people keen to put down roots and build their future in the region.

What we’re looking for:

• A relevant engineering qualification, preferably a Washington Accord accredited degree or equivalent, and Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) accreditation
• Typically eight or more years’ structural engineering consultancy experience, with capability and contribution mattering more than years alone
• Strong technical judgement and understanding of engineering first principles, with the ability to lead complex structural design and guide others through technical challenges
• Experience managing multiple projects, including budgets, programmes, resourcing and quality
• Strong client relationships and commercial awareness, with a track record of identifying opportunities and contributing to winning work
• Experience leading, mentoring and developing people, with an approachable and collaborative style
• Proficiency in engineering software, preferably ETABS and SPACE GASS, and strong knowledge of NZ design standards, building codes and compliance processes
• Clear communication, initiative, ownership and pride in your work
