Senior Associate Secondary Engineer HV Substations

Jacobs' Energy & Power business is helping clients deliver the infrastructure needed for Australia's changing energy system. We're seeking a Senior Associate Secondary Engineer to join our Perth team, providing senior secondary engineering expertise across our Substations portfolio.

Based in Perth, you'll work with Energy & Power specialists across Australia and APAC on HV and EHV transmission and distribution projects, including systems up to 500kV. You'll combine hands-on secondary design with engineering leadership and client engagement. You'll lead engineering solutions, act as Lead Engineer on projects and bring Secondary and Protection expertise to multidisciplinary teams.

Here's what you'll do:

• Lead secondary engineering and design across HV and EHV substation projects.
• Develop and review secondary, protection, control and metering schemes.
• Review protection setting calculations, relay coordination and associated protection studies.
• Work with IEC 61850 and substation communication and control systems.
• Act as Lead Engineer and undertake design, checking, review and approval of engineering deliverables.
• Work across interfaces with Primary, Civil, Structural, Studies and other engineering disciplines.
• Support projects across design, procurement, construction, testing and commissioning.
• Work directly with clients to understand requirements and develop engineering solutions.

Here's what you'll need

We're interested in Secondary Engineers who have developed their experience within a utility, OEM or engineering consultancy and want to continue with detailed design while taking a senior role in project delivery and client engagement.

You'll bring:

• Secondary substation design experience across HV transmission projects.
• Experience across secondary systems, protection, control and metering.
• Ability to develop and review protection schemes, relay settings and associated secondary designs.
• Knowledge of IEC 61850 and substation communication and control systems.
• Experience as a Lead Engineer, checker, reviewer and/or approver on complex engineering projects.
• Experience working directly with clients and across multidisciplinary project teams.
• Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status.
