Senior Automated QA (Java)

A leading financial institution in Hong Kong is seeking an Automation Quality Assurance Engineer with strong expertise in trading systems and fluency in Cantonese.

This role sits at the core of Hong Kong's financial markets, focusing on ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of mission-critical financial systems. You will join a collaborative technology team responsible for driving automation testing initiatives, improving testing efficiency, and supporting the delivery of highly resilient platforms used across the financial ecosystem.

Key responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain automated testing frameworks and test scripts using technologies such as Selenium, Cucumber, Java, and Python
• Execute functional, integration, regression, and end-to-end testing to ensure system quality and stability
• Analyse test results, investigate defects, and work closely with development teams to drive issue resolution
• Enhance and optimise existing automation frameworks to improve test coverage and reduce manual testing effort
• Participate in requirement reviews and technical discussions to identify test scenarios and quality risks early in the SDLC
• Develop and maintain automated testing tools to support continuous testing and delivery initiatives
• Support system integration testing (SIT), user acceptance testing (UAT), and production release activities
• Validate APIs, system interfaces, workflows, and business processes across complex financial systems
• Collaborate closely with developers, QA engineers, business analysts, and end users to ensure successful project delivery
• Contribute to test strategy, quality assurance best practices, automation adoption, and continuous improvement initiatives
• Support production investigations and provide testing expertise for issue analysis and resolution

Candidate profile:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline
• Minimum 5 years of experience in software testing, quality assurance, or test automation
• Hands-on experience with automation testing tools such as Selenium, Cucumber, or equivalent frameworks
• Proficiency in Java, Python, or other programming/scripting languages used for test automation
• Strong understanding of software testing methodologies, SDLC, defect management, and release processes
• Experience in API testing, integration testing, and automated regression testing
• Familiarity with Git, Jenkins, GitLab, CI/CD pipelines, and test management tools
• Comfortable working in Linux/Unix environments
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with a quality-driven mindset
• Exposure to financial services, capital markets, trading platforms, or other mission-critical systems would be highly advantageous
