Senior Backend Developer

Senior Backend Developer

Bangkok · 2 days in the office
Salary: 150,000 – 200,000 THB + benefits

Cathcart Technology is working with a growing tech company building AI-powered, connected products for connected living solutions. They're hiring a Senior Backend Developer to take ownership of the backend as the product ecosystem scales: architecture, APIs, data, and the integrations between devices, AI services, and the rest of the platform.

You'll work alongside Frontend, Mobile, Data, AI, Product, and Infrastructure teams, and you'll have a real say in how the engineering team builds — from code reviews and CI/CD to architectural decisions.

What you'll do

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs in Java / Spring Boot
• Shape the system architecture — service boundaries, data flows, and integration patterns
• Own the data layer: schema design, query optimisation, and indexing across relational and NoSQL stores
• Integrate third-party platforms, connected devices, and AI/data capabilities
• Mentor engineers and raise the bar on engineering practices across the team

What they're looking for

• 6+ years in backend development, including 2+ years at senior/lead level or with significant ownership of production systems
• Strong experience with Java, Node.js, Python, or Go (Java / Spring Boot is preferred)
• Solid background in API design, system architecture, database design, and performance optimisation
• Hands-on with AWS, GCP, or Azure, and Docker or similar containerised environments
• Comfortable with CI/CD, code reviews, and technical documentation
• Experience with IoT, connected devices, AI, or data platforms is highly advantageous
• Good English — the team works with international stakeholders and documentation is in English
