We are currently partnered with a regulated payments fintech building the future of P2P payments, B2B payments, remittances, and neo-banking. With their HQ based in Dubai and their recent successful expansion they are now looking to expand with a European hub in Porto.

What will you be doing?

• Develop and maintain robust, scalable backend systems that support secure and reliable financial transactions.
• Integrate and enhance payment capabilities across mobile money platforms, banking partners, and card networks, including M-Pesa.
• Build and optimise distributed services using Java, Quarkus, and Go within a microservices-based, event-driven environment.
• Improve the reliability and performance of key transaction processes, including payments, account funding, and settlements, through automated testing, observability, and proactive monitoring.

Who are we looking for?

• Strong experience with Java or Kotlin, ideally working on large-scale systems. Knowledge of Go is a plus.
• Good understanding of distributed systems, Kafka, and handling reliable financial transactions.
• Experience managing live systems, including monitoring, troubleshooting, and deploying updates.
• Awareness of security best practices, including access management, data protection, and secure coding.
• At least one year of hands-on experience using AI tools, with examples of building AI agents or automations that have reduced manual work and improved efficiency.
• Previous experience working within a fintech is ideal.

📍 Location: Remote anywhere in Portugal or hybrid in Porto (if you love going into the office)

⏰ Working Hours: East Africa Time (EAT) with core collaboration hours from 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM EAT
