What You Will Do:

• Design, develop, and maintain the ADE VS Code extension for mainframe application development
• Build and extend reactive webview UIs using Svelte within the VS Code extension framework
• Implement and maintain message-passing protocols between extension host and webviews
• Lead architectural decisions and drive technical solutions end-to-end
• Contribute to the FastAPI REST backend and PostgreSQL data layer as needed
• Take ownership of features from development through production
• Mentor team members and help shape engineering culture through best practices
• Align with product owners and team members on business requirements
• Apply best practices like CI/CD, automated testing, and code quality tooling

What You Will Bring:

• 6+ years of experience in relevant field

• Experience with TypeScript and Node.js

  VS Code Extension API , extension host, webview sandbox, IPC message protocols
• Experience with Python 3.11+
  • FastAPI, async patterns, Pydantic
• Strong grasp on Linux/Bash/Perl scripting
• Experience with PostgreSQL
  • Schema understanding, query writing
• Experience with Docker and Docker Compose - Local dev environment setup
• Experience with GitHub Actions CI/CD
• Familiarity with Ansible / Ansible Automation Platform

What Would Be Nice To Have:

• Experience with Mainframe concepts (PL/I, JCL, component lifecycle management)
• Experience with DB2 LUW basics
• Familiarity with MicroFocus - experience with server side MF commands
• Familiarity with C++ / maintain internal server side tools
• Experience with VS Code Extension development — Command registration, tree views, settings, packaging (VSCE)
• Experience with Svelte and Vite — Reactive UI development for VS Code webviews
• Experience with AI-assisted development — Hands-on experience with Claude Code (Anthropic) or equivalent tools for day-to-day coding workflows
• Experience with REST API consumption — HTTP fetch, JWT Bearer auth, OpenAPI, PostgREST

About Your Contract:

• 40 hours/week
• Full-time, indefinite contract
• Location: Budapest, Hungary
• Hybrid working model with 1-2 office days per week
• Occasional travel to customer locations across Europe
• Onboarding and acclimatization period provided
• You must be currently eligible to work in Hungary
