Senior Backend Engineer

For our client, we are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join the team of a leader in the Information Technology space. This role will lead work at the intersection of data, AI-enabled capabilities, and scalable technology delivery. You will work across engineering, product, operations, and business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into practical technology solutions. The position offers the opportunity to influence architecture, execution quality, and the technology capabilities that enable long-term growth within a technology-driven environment.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $139,200 – $235,200 annually

Responsibilities

• Drive technical direction by designing and shipping backend features with minimal guidance
• Advocate for product quality, security, and performance, establishing industry standards
• Mentor junior engineers, enhance team practices, and facilitate code reviews
• Diagnose performance issues and act as a technical owner during incidents
• Integrate AI within engineering workflows, evaluating its effectiveness across systems

Qualifications

• 5-7 years of backend engineering experience in complex product environments
• Strong command of backend architecture and APIs
• Proficiency in modern backend languages and systems programming
• Experience in designing modular backend architectures and migration-safe systems
• Proven expertise in integrating agentic AI into production engineering workflows
