The Role

We are seeking an experienced Backend Software Engineer with strong TypeScript, Node.js, and AWS expertise to help design, develop, and maintain distributed cloud-native applications supporting mission-critical logistics operations. You will play a key role in building resilient microservice architectures capable of processing large volumes of real-time events while maintaining high levels of performance, reliability, and scalability.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services using TypeScript and Node.js.
• Build and optimise event-driven microservices operating within cloud-native environments.
• Develop serverless applications using AWS services such as Lambda and DynamoDB.
• Contribute to the architecture and evolution of large-scale distributed systems handling real-time operational workloads.
• Integrate backend services with enterprise platforms, APIs, hardware systems, and operational technologies.
• Collaborate closely with software engineers, architects, and technical stakeholders to deliver scalable and maintainable solutions.
• Ensure software quality through testing, code reviews, automation, and continuous improvement practices.
• Support the delivery of secure, reliable, and high-performing platforms that underpin essential business operations.

What We're Looking For Essential Skills & Experience

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong commercial experience with TypeScript and Node.js backend development.
• Proven track record designing and building microservice-based applications.
• Hands-on experience working with event-driven architectures and asynchronous messaging patterns.
• Strong AWS experience, particularly within serverless environments using services such as Lambda and DynamoDB.
• Experience developing and supporting large-scale distributed systems.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, scalability, reliability, and performance optimisation.
• Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines and modern cloud engineering practices.
• Ability to write clean, maintainable, reusable, and well-tested code.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills, with experience working alongside engineering and architecture teams.
• A pragmatic and quality-focused approach to solving complex technical challenges.

Desirable Experience

Experience in any of the following areas would be beneficial:

• High-volume logistics, transportation, or supply chain platforms.
• Cloud-native architecture and distributed systems design.
• Real-time event processing and operational technology integrations.
• GitHub Actions or similar CI/CD automation tooling.
• Security-focused software development practices.
