Senior Backend Engineer

New York City (Hybrid, 3 days per week in office) | $155,000 - $225,000 + Equity + Benefits

You'll have significant ownership, work closely with Product and Design teams, and help build scalable systems that support a rapidly expanding customer base.

The Role

• Build, scale, and maintain backend services using Python
• Design and develop APIs that power key platform functionality
• Work closely with Product and Design teams to deliver customer-focused solutions
• Contribute to architecture decisions that improve performance, scalability, and reliability
• Develop systems across onboarding, customer management, communications, integrations, and operational tooling
• Take ownership of features and projects from design through deployment
• Promote engineering best practices and high-quality code standards
• Support the growth of a modern cloud-based platform serving a growing user base

Your Skills & Experience

• Strong commercial experience with Python backend development
• Experience working with Django, Flask, or similar frameworks
• Expertise designing and building REST APIs
• Strong knowledge of distributed systems and web application architecture
• Experience working with relational databases and ORM technologies
• Exposure to AWS and cloud-native environments
• Experience building customer-facing products within SaaS, marketplace, consumer technology, or other product-led businesses
• Ability to work autonomously while collaborating effectively across teams
• Product-minded approach with a strong sense of ownership
