Senior Backend Tech Lead | Java & Cloud

We’re looking for a senior Backend technology leader to shape engineering standards, drive architectural excellence and influence the development of large-scale, mission-critical systems within a leading financial technology environment.

This role combines deep hands-on engineering expertise with broad technical leadership. You’ll work across multiple development teams, guiding architectural decisions, strengthening engineering practices and driving innovation across a complex cloud-based platform.

What you’ll do

• Lead Backend technical strategy and establish engineering standards across multiple development teams.
• Drive architectural design and technical decision-making in collaboration with senior architects and engineering leaders.
• Guide the development of scalable, resilient and secure microservices and distributed systems.
• Promote high standards of code quality, maintainability, performance and reliability throughout the development lifecycle.
• Lead cross-organizational technology initiatives, including infrastructure improvements and cloud-native development.
• Advance AI-assisted software development and introduce innovative engineering practices.
• Mentor engineers and technical leaders, encourage knowledge sharing and support professional growth.
• Provide technical direction in complex production incidents and critical system challenges.

What you’ll bring

• 8+ years of hands-on software development experience, including work on large-scale production systems.
• Extensive experience developing backend services using Java, Spring Framework and Spring Boot.
• A proven track record of leading technical standards, architecture or engineering practices across multiple teams.
• Strong expertise in distributed systems, microservices, scalability, high availability and fault tolerance.
• Significant hands-on experience with AWS and cloud-based architectures.
• Familiarity with Apache Kafka, Kubernetes, OpenShift and modern CI/CD processes.
• Experience with performance tuning, observability and production troubleshooting.
• The ability to influence technical decisions, mentor experienced engineers and drive alignment across teams.
• A proactive mindset, strong problem-solving skills and a passion for continuous improvement.
