Senior Barista

Job Summary

Undercurrent Coffee is seeking an experienced, passionate, and dependable Senior Barista to support daily café operations and deliver high-quality coffee and beverage service. The ideal candidate will have strong specialty coffee knowledge, excellent guest-service skills, and the ability to support teammates while maintaining consistent beverage and service standards in a fast-paced café environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare espresso, brewed coffee, tea, and specialty beverages according to café standards
• Maintain consistent beverage quality, presentation, and portion standards
• Operate and maintain espresso machines, grinders, brewers, and other café equipment
• Dial in espresso and adjust grind settings as needed
• Provide knowledgeable assistance with coffee selections, brewing methods, and menu items
• Welcome guests and provide friendly, professional service
• Take orders accurately and operate the POS system
• Process cash, card, and other payments accurately
• Support and coach baristas and newer team members during service
• Help maintain efficient bar workflow during busy service periods
• Monitor coffee, milk, syrups, cups, ingredients, and other supply levels
• Communicate inventory and equipment needs to management
• Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked coffee bar
• Clean and sanitize espresso equipment, grinders, utensils, counters, and workstations
• Follow food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures
• Assist with opening, closing, and daily café procedures
• Handle guest requests and concerns in a polite and professional manner
• Perform additional duties assigned by café management

Requirements

• Previous barista experience required; senior or lead experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of specialty coffee and espresso preparation
• Experience operating commercial espresso machines and grinders
• Friendly, professional, and guest-focused attitude
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced café environment
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to beverage quality
• Basic POS and cash-handling knowledge
• Ability to train, guide, and support other team members
• Reliable, punctual, and responsible work ethic
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform routine café tasks
• Flexible availability, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays

Preferred Skills

• Specialty coffee and espresso preparation experience
• Knowledge of coffee beans, grind settings, extraction, and brewing methods
• Espresso dialing-in and quality-control experience
• Barista training or team-lead experience
• Strong guest-service and interpersonal skills
• Ability to multitask while maintaining quality and accuracy
• Good organization and time-management skills
• Positive leadership approach and willingness to support the team
• Interest in continuing to develop coffee knowledge and skills

Pay: $23.00 - $28.00 per hour
