Senior Barista

Job Summary

Alchemist Coffee Project is seeking a passionate, experienced, and dependable Senior Barista to join the café team. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of coffee and espresso preparation, provide friendly and professional service, maintain consistent beverage quality, and help support smooth daily café operations.

This position is well suited for an experienced barista who enjoys specialty coffee, takes pride in quality and presentation, and can help support team members in a fast-paced café environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare espresso, brewed coffee, specialty beverages, and other café drinks according to established standards.
• Operate espresso machines, grinders, brewers, and other coffee equipment safely and effectively.
• Dial in espresso and adjust grind settings to maintain consistent extraction and beverage quality.
• Maintain high standards for coffee preparation, presentation, portioning, and consistency.
• Welcome guests and provide friendly, knowledgeable, and professional service.
• Take food and beverage orders accurately and operate the POS system.
• Process cash, card, and other payments accurately.
• Answer questions about coffee, beverages, menu items, and preparation methods.
• Assist guests with coffee selections and provide appropriate recommendations.
• Support and guide other baristas during busy service periods.
• Help maintain efficient workflow and service standards throughout the café.
• Keep the coffee bar, counters, equipment, and service areas clean and organized.
• Clean and properly maintain espresso machines, grinders, brewers, and other café equipment.
• Monitor coffee, milk, syrups, food items, cups, and other supplies and communicate inventory needs.
• Follow food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures.
• Assist with opening, closing, cleaning, and daily café procedures.
• Help train new team members on beverage preparation, café procedures, and service standards as assigned.
• Perform additional duties assigned by café management.

Requirements

• Previous barista experience is required; senior or specialty coffee experience is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of espresso preparation and coffee brewing methods.
• Experience operating commercial espresso machines and grinders.
• Ability to maintain consistent beverage quality during busy service periods.
• Friendly, professional, and guest-focused attitude.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to provide knowledgeable coffee and beverage service.
• Good attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
• Ability to follow recipes, procedures, and café quality standards.
• Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform routine café duties.

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 36.0 per week
